UnionPay cards are accepted in 183 countries and regions, including 51 countries in Africa, and are issued in 85 countries and regions globally. Supported by Standard Bank’s African presence, the expanded acceptance capability is locally relevant, regionally scalable and connected to international customer flows.
During the event, participants attended dedicated training sessions covering the latest product innovations and technical developments. Emeka Paschal Okpe, Channel Manager of Midea RAC, highlighted the company’s approach to continuous technical education. “For every training that we do, we try as much as possible not to do the same thing over and over again. As a brand, we invest heavily in R&D, which means we are constantly introducing innovations and technologies that keep us ahead of the market,” he said.
As the back-to-school shopping season gains momentum, demand for stationery, learning tools, and educational technology products is on the rise. One of the notable developments was the growing adoption of environmentally conscious materials and designs. Several exhibitors showcased pens manufactured with PLA biobased materials derived from renewable plant resources such as corn. Under industrial composting conditions, these materials can biodegrade, offering an alternative to conventional plastics. Other exhibitors introduced ballpoint pens made from 100% recycled ocean plastic. Equipped with Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification, these products significantly reduce carbon emissions compared with traditional alternatives while meeting rising demand for sustainable consumer goods.
Anhui Huasun Energy Co., Ltd. (“Huasun”), a leading global heterojunction (HJT) solar manufacturer, signed a 100MW module supply agreement with Air Solution, a Futex Group company, in Lahore, Pakistan. The deal marks the first overseas order of Huasun’s flagship Himalaya PLUS module, following its European debut at Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich this June.
XCMG has accelerated equipment deliveries and deployments in Angola, Southeast Asia, South America and Mozambique, supporting road construction, lifting, aerial access and green mining projects. Deliveries include more than 100 units of integrated road construction equipment in Angola, nearly 300 crawler cranes across Southeast Asia and 80 aerial work platforms in South America. The Paraná factory incorporates smart factory solutions, including AI and industrial robotics, to improve production efficiency, product quality and workplace safety. The facility applies LG’s Vision AI-based inspection systems and robotics-enabled automation to enhance product quality and production consistency. Articulated robots are utilized to handle physically demanding or higher-risk tasks, such as transporting refrigerator doors, helping improve workplace safety while supporting process stability.
Wison Engineering announced that it has been awarded the US$3.9 billion Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for Phase 2 of the Rich Gas Development (RGD) Project by ADNOC Gas. The total contract is valued at approximately US$4.04 billion, making it the largest EPC contract in Wison Engineering’s history. Located in the Habshan area of Abu Dhabi, the project will see Wison Engineering build a new, large-scale natural gas processing train for ADNOC Gas, expanding their natural gas processing capacity and supporting the UAE’s downstream and petrochemical sectors.

UnionPay International and Pesapal Partner to Boost Cross-Border Payments and Tourism in East Africa
Launching initially in Tanzania followed by Rwanda, this collaboration significantly enhances payment convenience for international travellers while unlocking new commercial opportunities for local businesses. As the lead market for the rollout, Tanzania will see immediate expansion of UnionPay acceptance across key tourism and commercial sectors, including hospitality, retail, restaurants, transport, petroleum, and lifestyle merchants. Award-winning online trading platform Mitrade Group is rolling out an upgraded MitradeGPT model to traders across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) after receiving Global Business Magazine’s 2026 AI Broker of the Year award. The launch comes as growing use of AI in financial research raises questions about the accuracy, context and reliability of generated information. That reliance is evident in HSBC’s 2026 research involving UAE investors. It found that 83% of respondents use AI for finance and investment decisions, including 78% who use it for analysis and research.
