CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances from Egyptians working abroad totaled about $29.7 billion from January through July 2026. The Central Bank of Egypt said the figure rose 28.1% from about $23.2 billion a year earlier. The seven-month increase added roughly $6.5 billion compared with the same period of 2025. The data cover funds sent home by Egyptians employed overseas. The January-to-July gain followed the record level reported for calendar 2025.

July produced about $4.5 billion in remittances, up 20% from roughly $3.8 billion in July 2025. Earlier months also recorded year-on-year gains. January inflows reached about $3.5 billion, compared with $2.9 billion a year earlier. February remittances climbed to about $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. Together, January and February accounted for about $7.3 billion of the seven-month total. The first two months exceeded their year-earlier combined level by about $1.4 billion.
The broader fiscal-year figures also showed a higher level of remittance inflows. Egypt received about $47.3 billion during fiscal 2025/2026, up 29.6% from $36.5 billion in the previous fiscal year. June 2026 brought in about $4.2 billion, compared with $3.6 billion in June 2025. That monthly increase was 15.6%. The fiscal year covered July 2025 through June 2026, while the latest seven-month figure tracks January through July 2026. In dollar terms, the fiscal-year increase was about $10.8 billion.
Remittance inflows rise across reporting periods
Calendar-year data also recorded higher inflows. Remittances reached about $41.5 billion in 2025, an increase of 40.5% from approximately $29.6 billion in 2024. That represented a gain of about $11.9 billion. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows totaled about $22.1 billion. The comparable six-month figure one year earlier was $17.1 billion. That period therefore recorded an increase of 29.6%.
December 2025 reached a monthly record of about $4.0 billion, up 24% from $3.2 billion a year earlier. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal-year remittances had reached $25.6 billion. That compared with $20.0 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year. The Central Bank of Egypt then reported about $29.4 billion through February. That was 28% higher than the roughly $23.0 billion recorded during the comparable eight-month period. December’s year-on-year increase amounted to about $800 million.
Spring data extend the remittance gains
The cumulative total continued to rise during the spring. Remittances for July through March of fiscal 2025/2026 reached about $34.9 billion. That was 32% above the $26.4 billion reported for the comparable period. By April, the total had increased to about $39.2 billion, up 33.2% from $29.4 billion. April alone generated about $4.3 billion, compared with $3.0 billion in April 2025. The monthly increase was 44%, equal to roughly $1.3 billion.
By May, fiscal-year remittances had climbed to about $43.1 billion, up 31.2% from $32.8 billion a year earlier. May inflows totaled about $3.9 billion, compared with roughly $3.4 billion in May 2025. The 11-month increase amounted to about $10.3 billion. The fiscal year ended at $47.3 billion after June. July then lifted the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. The latest monthly, calendar-year and fiscal-year comparisons all remained above their corresponding year-earlier levels.
